Restoring your soul...

There are segments of our lives that resemble the pieces of a puzzle: those things that when all put together make us who we are. Every part, no matter how large or small is as elemental as the next. But for each of us there are unique experiences that move us, stir us, give us perspective, provide clarity and speak to our hearts in a way we long to hear.

Sometimes it's music that brings me a sense of joy or peace; sometimes a smell conjures up some sort of comfort or contentment.

And what about visual elements that do the same thing? Like photographs. Or nature. Or the perfect moment in time, the kind of moment that when unexpectedly stumbled upon makes your heart literally skip a beat. Those images that somehow unexpectedly take your breath away. I know that for me, when I come across them it's undeniable.

Where do you seek your soul's restoration?

  • I can usually find my *center* by smelling coffee and fresh baked bread, watching my children and husband sleep, listening to the rain against the windows, touching the kids baby quilts and stuffed animals that, even though the older ones are teenagers, they still keep.

  • Put me in the woods by a creek or lake.

  • The river. I always go to the river. I feel like a part of my dad is still there. I feel closest to him with rushing water as the background sound.
